Story
Phoebe, Acolyte of the Order of the Deep, is a young woman of quiet devotion. With a kind heart, she fulfills her duties with unwavering diligence. Her prayers, like the light she carries, offer comfort and peace to all.
[Excerpt of Letter of Recommendation from the Order Orphanage] The moment I saw the glowing Tacet Mark on her upper left thigh, I knew immediately that this was a blessing from Imperator. ...Her Resonance Ability allowed her to manifest light, refracting it into various forms of prisms. Even on the darkest nights, when the storm has snuffed out all other light, she fills every room with a soft, radiant glow. A light so comforting it conveys the very essence of hope in the darkest of times. As written in the Tenets of the Deep, such light must have always existed in her heart, a sign of her relentless devotion... *This record has been transferred from the Orphanage to the Order of the Deep's archives. We have reason to believe that Acolyte Initiate Phoebe's unparalleled Resonance ability stems from her unwavering faith in the Divinity. This is demonstrated by the rapport between her and the Echoes, a connection that has reinforced the trust some of our faithful have in her. Her active involvement in charitable works has already earned her recognition, therefore we have voted unanimously to grant her the title of Acolyte after her novitiate. However, some within the Order believe that her closeness with the Echoes violates the Order's doctrines. The blessings of the Divine Envoys are to be shared equitably, as the Sentinel's love for Their people is impartial and untainted by favoritism. Being too close to the Divine Envoys could lead to unforeseen risks. For this reason, we do not recommend her appointment to the Servitude Hall, and believe it would be most prudent to transfer her to the Ministry of Holy Rituals instead...
A locket Phoebe carries with her, repurposed from an old pocket watch. Inside is a family portrait. It was lost to the depths of the sea during a shipwreck, but thanks to the tireless search of her kind friends, it was eventually returned to her. "In the fleeting waves of time... in the beautiful spray of the sea, and in the light, there are words I want to tell you, over and over again."
A handcrafted souvenir from a land across the sea was the only item Phoebe kept when her family's possessions were sold off. In the bedtime stories she once believed would never end, there was a bird with blue wings, the envoy of the Divinity. It had the power to cross through storms and bring happiness to the little girl who endured loneliness each night as she drifted to sleep.
An old, faded edition of the Codex of the Deep, handbound by a loving and devout mother. A proper, dutiful Acolyte should be well-versed in the contents of the Codex, holding the Sentinel's guidance close to heart. Phoebe always adhered to the teachings in her heart, though, if truth be told, she preferred the color of the sky to that of the sea. "The Codex says that suffering brings us closer to the Divinity. But I still hope for a peaceful and happy life for you, my child."
